This poster is designed with the avid car collector or car buff in mind. Porsche automobiles have been highly prized and valued by automobile enthusiasts worldwide. The 911 model is a two-door sports car first introduced by Porsche AG in 1964. It features a rear-mounted, flat-six engine and a torsion bar suspension. Though enhanced over the years, its overall shape and aesthetics have remained unchanged.
The 911 has been raced extensively and is among the most successful competition cars, winning multiple World titles and 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is ranked fifth in a 1999 poll for ‘car of the century’ and is one of two in the top five cars that remains in continuous production. The one-millionth Porsche rolled off the assembly line in May of 2017!
The shape of the 911 is unmistakable because of its distinct fly lines and elegant roof lines, which have been the hallmark of Porsche since 1963. It’s a perfect blend of traditional and modern aesthetics without sacrificing dynamism on the road. Any car enthusiast can attest to the thrill and sensation of throttling through winding roads or on a race track.
This design is part of my automobile and motorsports collection and is part of the minimalist series I did of classic cars. Predominantly black, the limited lighting and highlights are meant to show off the distinct and elegant 911 flow lines from its long flat hood to the steeply inclined windshield to its gently sloping roof and tail. The distinctly wide fenders give the rear a powerful and clear emphasis on the raw power of the engine output.
